Being Yourself
A Practice of Moving Meditation

Being Yourself
The Walking Technique
It has been said by some that in ancient times this much prized part of The Emperor’s Breathing System should only be taught to those who fulfill important functions in society.
But it has also been said that it can only be learnt by those with a pure heart.
The same applied today
The Walking Technique is a method of self cultivation that is very old and spans across many cultures. The once mythological Emperor of the world who was at all times himself, yet in a constant state of change and transformation, taught it in its pure form to the Holy Sages. The Emperor taught the Sages so that they could simplify it and make it available to those that would be themselves.
It is an internal system that produces an external result and is intended for those that want their whole being to be as one. Its application will give material form to your inner self. It is a technique that requires very little practice time and the results are rarely affected by external interruptions.
You can practice any time and almost anywhere. Your surroundings and the presence of other people or a noisy environment are unlikely to have any bearing on the outcome. You do not need any special equipment and you can do it in conjunction with any other form of meditation.
The Walking Technique is a system of moving meditation
The most effective use of this meditation is when your real person is needed to be injected into your circumstances. This is a method of self cultivation that will enable you to act as you really are, an individual. The Walking Technique draws on your inner characteristics and intensions and allows them to shine through to the surface. Others will see who you are. Your external personality can only be enhanced by your inner intensions. For there are times when we all need to do things that have our specific stamp of personality on them. This form of meditation has very definite advantages for ourselves but it has an even greater benefit.
The example of self completion it sets for others
The Walking Technique is the combination of constant, non exerting, physical movement. This is married with a conscious, non analytical, verbal direction that is directed at your whole being. You become aware of the rhythm and pace of your body as it corresponds to your breathing. This then coupled with the repetitious sound of your own voice, as it issues the same simple words. All of which filters through to your inner self. The exact result of your covenant will come about at the outer level.
The Physical Movement
Commence with a slow exact walk. Put your hands either in front of your body or behind, whichever you find to be the most comfortable.
If your hands are in front then cup one hand over the other. If they are behind, then clasp them together. Do not let your arms hang loosely by your sides. Swinging your arms can be distracting. This in turn can effect your concentration and dissipate your energy.
Your Breathing Pattern
Breathe in via your nose and mentally count from 1 to 5.
Breathe out via your nose and mentally count from 1 to 5. Continue to do this for several minutes as you maintain your slow walking pace.
You are now able to pick up the rhythm of your walking and your breathing.
Activate Your Inner Direction
Begin to audibly repeat the words “ I Am “ slowly as you pick up the rhythm of your walking.
Continue to repeat over and over “ I Am, I Am, I Am “ etc., as you slowly pace.
If your mind wanders to other things, do not linger on those thoughts, keep bringing your concentration back with “ I Am “.
Many thoughts and matters of disproportionate importance will come into your head. Let them go. Occupy your conscious with the words “ I Am “.
To Finish When you are ready to finish, your subconscious will let you know. Say the word “ Perfect “ and cease your walking.
Practice
The walking meditation can be used as both a group meditation and alone.
As a group meditation the best known way is the single file method.
Each person participating follows each other in a single line and walks from point A to point B. Thus a place is established to begin and a place for the common good. When a group of people can actively meditate together their purpose become a common one
The transference of energy and attitudes along with a common vibration, will not only enhance the combined effort of the group but give it a distinctive character. When you practice alone you can do it anywhere. You can walk in circles, a straight line or from A to B.
This is a good practice to use during the mid times during your day. It really does not matter where you do it. It can be done under a lot of circumstances. Once you are comfortable with it. Whenever there is a strong need for you to be yourself Or, for that matter, whenever there is a need for others to see who you are. This practice, used correctly is a valuable asset. The nature of this meditation practice gives you the scope to make adjustments that will suit your current situation. But its reason for being is to bring what is within to the out side so that others may follow your example.
So do this practice with the right intentions.
